Service Description
A step that welcomes training and competing in the riders' chosen discipline with a general goal to develop training habits, have fun, and engage in meaningful competition​ Winter training & competition (some out-of province travel required): 10+ weeks of athlete-centred, high-volume, low-intensity training sessions that build the realm-specific technical, tactical, physical, mental, and life skills or capacities held by top-tier competitive snowboarders Fall preparation: dryland, airbag & trampoline training, process-goal planning, competition & travel planning, use of ancillary sport science professionals for pre-season physical testing & training, injury prevention & recovery, nutrition, mental skills, and lifestyle choices & habits Choose from Speed or Style disciplines: Speed involves a mix of alpine and snowboardcross training Style involves a mix of slopestyle and halfpipe training Prerequisites: Snowboard: 2-4 seasons of deliberate snowboard training Psycho-social: self-identifies as a freestyle or speed snowboarder when asked their sport preferences, highly motivated to train Physical: has begun adolescent growth spurt Programs available (min 3 participants to run): Full-Day Saturday (discipline-specific) Two-Day Saturday (discipline-specific) and Sunday (general riding improvement) Recommended seasonal commitment: Full-day or two-day programs + fall preparation program 3 discipline-specific camps and 3 discipline-specific competitions​ (travel required) Canada Snowboard and Sport for Life Canada recommends athletes at this stage be on snow 50-70 days a season at a ratio of (70% training/freeriding, 30% competing)
